Farm News
There is a lot happening on the farm lately. Shouldn’t really be this way yet, but here we are. We replaced the old wooden garage door on our wash area. Looks pretty nice I must say. And boy-o-boy is it easy to open compared to the last one. We still need to replace the water heater in the wash area — not that we use hot water to wash the produce but we do use it for cleaning purposes. It seems to be leaking and the previous owner was kind enough to not put a valve on the supply line. So we have to turn off the water to the whole building to replace the heater. Such is life.

Let’s see. Oh, we had one of the Scotts (we have multiple members named “Scott” who help out on different things but you don’t need to be named Scott if you want to help) come out to try to fix the raspberry PI we use to control the greenhouse. So far we’ve learned a lot, used some fancy electronic equipment and continue to have the same old problems. But I feel we are getting closer — closer to giving up. No, we won’t give up. But we have some ideas of what to check next. We just need to be right there in the greenhouse when it is about to happen so we can measure voltage right before it happens. After it happens we are too late. And if it isn’t happening at the moment it isn’t a problem. But get it right at the right moment and maybe we’ll learn something and figure out how to resolve it. How hard can that be?

What else, hmm. Oh yea, we are planting seeds in the greenhouse! How ’bout that! Actual farming and not fixing stuff or selling stuff or fixing stuff. So far we have planted shallots, onions, leeks, green onions, kale, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, parsley, oregano, thyme, super-duper hot peppers, Brussels sprouts, and various flowers for FlowerShare. We have rosemary and lettuce left to plant this week. The greenhouse is filling up nicely!
Joke of the Week
