…But I Play One on TV

I’m not usually one to toot my own horn.  I’m an incredibly humble person.  The most humble person I know.  In fact I would put money down that there isn’t anyone as humble as I am.  I am the humblest person in the whole world and darn proud of it.  But occasionally when I hit one out of the park I just have to make others aware of it so they can bask in my glory.  And I feel I really smacked it this time.

Yesterday I was cast in a video for a show on KARE 11.  They call it “5pm Newscast”.  Odd name but I’m not one to judge.  Anyway, they needed a quality actor to fill two different roles on this show: “bored farmer handing out brochures” and “farmer talking to customer”.  They needed someone with incredibly good looks.  A smooth, baritone voice.  And a commanding presence.  Unfortunately they chose me instead.  Nonetheless, I put in one heck of a performance if I do say so myself.  As you can see here, I felt I played the part masterfully.  Actually, you need to scroll to about the 7:55 mark of the show.  You could watch the whole episode with its build up to my climatic scene but you might as well just hit the high point and move on with your day.

For those trained in the fine arts you can’t help but notice the subtleness of my work.  In my bored farmer role you can feel the boredom seeping out of the screen.  Not only does my face show bored but my fidgety hands reinforce the vision of boredomness.  Then in my role as farmer talking to customer I completely reinvent myself.  You would not have recognized me except for the lack of wardrobe change.

Anyway, as you can imagine there is an enormous future for me if this farming thing doesn’t work out.  I just hope I don’t get typecast.
