As I mentioned in last year’s post, now that we have our farm systems running smoothly we need to make changes. We need to repeal and replace. Seems to be the thing to do these days. Our first order of business is to change things up a bit with regard to pick-ups, harvests and other aspects of the farm. Nothing too bigly. We’ve come up with a new scheme we’d like to share with you and get your feedback (I’m a bit afraid of sharing this because I just know it won’t work for someone). Anyway, here is our current thinking:
On-Farm pick-up: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoon/evening 3:30-6:30 (we may have shorter hours on Friday since it is a lighter day) and Wednesday morning 9:30-11:30. This doesn’t solve our issue with reducing the time consumed manning the tent but it does solve a few other issues.
Delivery: Tuesday and Thursday afternoon/evenings. We haven’t figured out which locations fall on which days; this may not be known until we get a better handle on demand. But this does give us two mid-week delivery days which seems to be what people want.
There are two things I need from you: for on-farm pick-up, which day would you like for your normal pick-up day (you can switch around over the course of the season if necessary). For drop-site members, feel free to suggest a day for your delivery; we will take it into account but may not be able to satisfy your request pending other circumstances. The second thing we need from you is patience this summer as we work through the unknown unknowns. I don’t know what the unknown unknowns are yet. If I did they would be in the known unknowns list, which is a completely different list. So please bear with us this summer. Hopefully everything will go smoothly.
Let me know if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, complaints, requests, jokes, or other items that can be helpful (jokes are always helpful).
Other than figuring out how to change everything now that it is working we are just looking through seed catalogs and planning what we will grow this year. I don’t anticipate many changes (maybe a few more eggplants. We grow big beautiful eggplants), but if you have requests this is the time to send them my way.
Oh, and don’t forget to tell your friends, neighbors, relatives, acquaintances, etc. about the farm. We are about halfway sold out for the season and would like to be all sold out asap. Tell them to put your name on the “Where did you hear about us?” line of the order form and we will credit your account $25 for helping us out!
Sometime this month I hope to have final prices for all the add-on shares (e.g. Meat, seafood, coffee, fruit, etc.) Stay tuned.
That is all for now. Have a Happy New Year!
