I woke up in a panic.  Not a cold sweat kind of panic but a bolt upright in bed kind of panic.  Was it possible?  Did I really forget?  I knew I would not be able to get back to sleep without investigating.  No it wasn’t that I left the stove on. Nor did I leave the garage door open. No this was much more drastic.  Could I really have done this?  Was it possible?  Did I forget to order leek seeds?

Phew.  This was not the case.  I actually didn’t order leek seeds but I had some left over from last season.  Why the panic now?  The seed order was put together last month and picked up a few weeks ago.  Why would I be so concerned that my subconscious took over my sleep and caused me such distress?  Because we start planting seeds in the greenhouse next week and one of the first things we start are leeks, along with their cousins shallots and onions.

Yes the season is about to get underway.  And this is the first time that I can remember where it will be a struggle to get into the greenhouse.  All the snow we received last weekend is now sitting in front of the greenhouse door.  And the path from the garage – where the potting soil and fertilizer are stored – is equally covered.  It is hard enough carrying 50 bags of fertilizer when there is no snow.  With snow up to my waist it will be far more difficult!  But it doesn’t matter.  The work has to be done whether the weather cooperates or not.  So one last week to rest up before hauling bags of supplies to the greenhouse next week!

A couple important announcements:

First: Last season was the first season in quite a while where we didn’t sell out the shares.  I’m not sure why but I suspect the economy was a major factor as was the increase in the number of CSA farms and shares offered by other CSA farms.  We really don’t want that to happen again.  So we ask your assistance.  Please spread the word to friends, neighbors, relatives, everyone.  The sooner we sell out the sooner we can put all our focus on growing great food.  And there is a $25 referral credit to you for your referrals who signs up!

Second: Payments are due in March but will be accepted anytime.  If you don’t know how much you owe please ask and I will send you your account status.

Third: We are still waiting for pricing on many of our resale items (e.g. cheese, eggs, meat, etc.)  I can’t wait to have that all finalized!  I will post updates as prices are set.

Last: If you have any question, suggestions or jokes do not resist sending them my way!
