The Election

incognito pepperAnything newsworthy happen in this week?

Frankly I couldn’t believe it.  How did we become so wrong?  How did this possibly happen?  And of course by “this” I mean how wrong the polls were.  As we’ve all seen this past week our polling business is a disaster.  We can’t seem to get anything right.  How can we count on the polls to tell us what we are thinking anymore?  The answer is we can’t.  From now on if we want to know what people are thinking we have to do the asking.  And so that is what I am going to do.

I will be sending out a survey this week (you might have already received it) to the email address we have on record. It is a survey to help us understand how we met or missed your expectations.  It will guide us into changes we make for the 2017 season and beyond.  This is your opportunity to make our farm great again (just like this past season).  Or if it wasn’t great, you get to tell us why it wasn’t.  Help us truly understand what you are thinking.  It is only seven questions long (30% less than last season!)  The survey is completely anonymous so feel free to let us have it.  If you don’t receive the email with the survey link please let me know and I will forward on the link to you.

Other Items

We are still taking orders for the 2017 season.  Spread the word.  Sign up now and lock in this year’s price for next season’s produce!  If you are a 2016 member you can just send in a $100 deposit.  New members can sign-up online and choose “Deposit Plan” during checkout, then follow-up with a check.  Credit card payment online requires full payment for the season.

We are also still taking orders for winter FruitShare; it starts on Wednesday, November 16th.  Fifteen weeks of delicious, certified organic fruits!  We have a drop site in St. Paul near 94 and Dale St.  We can also drop at St. Paul’s Monastery near Century Ave and Larpenteur.  Plus there is always pick-up at the farm. We have payment plans so you don’t have to pay it all upfront.

Gleaning party.  Unfortunately we had a very small turnout for this season’s food shelf gleaning party so we didn’t get to harvest everything that is still left in the field.  We probably have around 500 lbs of potatoes, 100 leeks and some number of Brussels sprouts.  There are still a couple rows of potatoes to dig.  If anyone wants to organize a group to dig these potatoes please let me know.  The group would have to do all the work, provide packing materials and transport the potatoes to the food shelf.  My only role will be to point out where the potatoes are located.

Other than the gleaning party farming is limited to updating the website, putting together an end of year survey, fixing driveway potholes and getting the equipment put away for the winter.  I suppose there are a few other odds and ends to accomplish, but suffice it to say things are slowing down here at the farm.  I suppose after this week there are a few other people whose lives are slowing down now as well…

As always, do not hesitate to contact me with questions, comments, suggestions, jokes, etc.  And make sure you vote one last time by filling out the survey!
