We harvested about a third of the garlic so far and it was so much fun that we thought we should share the fun with all our members! So this Saturday, July 30th, when the weather will be comfortable and beautiful, we are planning to dig the rest of the garlic. If you would like to share in this fun please RSVP and let us know if you’d prefer your excitement in the morning, say 9:00 to 1:00 or in the afternoon, from around 1:00 to 4:00. Based on the response we may work the whole day or just work one of the times if there isn’t any interest in the other.
Garlic digging has a few different tasks that can be accomplished by people of varying physical capabilities. If you have a bad back you can cut the roots off, or tie them into bunches. If you need more of a workout your can pull them out of the ground (we loosen them first so they typically don’t fight back too hard). And if you are extremely tall or can balance on a 5 gallon bucket you can help hang them in the garlic curing chamber (see accompanying picture).
So who wants to have fun this weekend? Let us know as soon as you can so we can plan accordingly.
