Not much happening farm-wise this time of year. But that doesn’t mean nothing is happening on the farm. Read all about it following these brief messages.
As I may have mentioned before, we are still taking orders for the 2023 season. If I do the math correctly I believe this will be our 21st season as a farm and our 20th season as a CSA farm! Talk about longevity! I’ve never worked for the same company for 20 years before. Must be great managers here. Anyway, as I said, we are taking orders for 2023. If you’d like to join feel free to order from our online farmstand. If rejoining you can also just send in a check for the $100 deposit if that is your preference.
We have worked out arrangements to offer EggShare yet again! We reestablished contact with our Amish suppliers (not easy I must say) and though their price has gone up a bit we decided to stick with last year’s price to say “Thanks” for sticking with us! Feel free to order as many as you’d like!
Tell your friends, family and neighbors to also join! If they put your name in the “Where did you hear about us?” line of the order form we will credit your account $25.
We are still looking for a worker or two this season. If you know anyone who likes getting dirty, and I mean that in the cleanest sense of the word, please send them our way!
We also have ‘ShroomShare, CoffeeShare, plant six packs, WinterShare and FlowerShare if you’d like to order those.
Final payments for the 2023 season are due at the end of March. Payment plans are available if you prefer.
Farm News
Our always hard working marketing department is working hard on coming up with a new name for our periodic newsletters. I’m not sure why they are doing this. I assume they are bored since they’ve already read through most of the Internet. Anyway, here are the most promising names so far. If you have any suggestions feel to forward them to me so I can pass them on and take credit for them.
Crop Talk
Seeds of Humor
The Green Scene
Organic Organ
Root of the Issue
Farm Chat
The Dirt Dispatch
The Beet
Shoveling Sh*t
Soiled Rants
Other than that we are finishing up the seed/plant order. We have a couple of interesting experiments we are going to try this season. I think I will save them for another newsletter once we confirm we are in fact doing the experiments.
Finally, if all goes as planned and there isn’t a sudden cold snap, we will be starting the greenhouse later this week! Greenhouse Opening is always a pretty exciting time here on the farm.
Joke of the Week/Month/Whatever
On a rural road, a state trooper pulled a farmer over and said, “Sir, do you realize your wife fell out of the car several miles back?” To which the farmer replied: “Thank God, I thought I had gone deaf!”
(Hey, I don’t write these. I just copy and paste them. Blame the internet if you don’t like ’em. Or send me better jokes.)
As always, do not hesitate to send in questions, comments, suggestions, jokes, brain teasers, or other words put together in such a fashion as to make them interesting.
